My name is Tammy Steenhoek and I am the Four Mile Elementary Principal, effective July 1, 2021. As a school leader, my goal is to provide a safe, secure, and positive academic and social emotional learning environment for all students and staff.
Four Mile Elementary serves an estimated 445 preschool-fifth grade students with approximately fifty staff members. Our preschool program serves three and four year old students, including learners who need special education services. We offer our K-5 students support through Talent and Gifted, English as a Second Language, Special Education, Counseling, and Reading Support. We also provide K-5 students rich learning opportunities in guidance, music, art, and physical education. Fifth-grade students may also participate in the Southeast Polk band program.
Four Mile Elementary has a rooted tradition of serving all learners with effective, engaging, and collaborative learning opportunities. The staff excels in providing differentiated instruction through well-designed whole class lessons, as well as impactful small group and individualized learning opportunities. We are proud of our innovative resources, up-to-date media center, use of technology and media literacy, as well as our newly renovated Mohning S.T.E.A.M Classroom and Production Studio. We want to provide all of our students every opportunity to be successful in life!
A strong partnership between our school, families, and community is essential to help our students become successful learners and positive influencers in our world. Four Mile is committed to consistent communication to the community, while providing an environment in which all families feel welcome, supported, and valued. I would encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Four Mile Elementary.
Sincerely, Tammy Steenhoek
