Nine Southeast Polk Jr. High students recently competed in the National History Day preliminary rounds at Central College in Pella. Each student conducted many hours of research and expressed their findings creatively and insightfully through a paper, an exhibit, or a documentary. They represented Southeast Polk very well!

Mimi Pham was recognized for her outstanding annotated bibliography for her paper An Era Takes Flight: How Aeronautics Revolutionized Transportation and Warfare.
Taylor Potratz received an Honorable Mention for her paper entitled The Internet: A Revolutionary Change in Education
Chloe Kephart received 2nd place and has advanced to the state level. Her paper is entitled How A Nuclear Accident Changed An Industry Forever: Controversy Surrounding Chornobyl
Chloe will compete on April 29 in Des Moines at the Iowa Events Center. Good luck Chloe!
