The Southeast Polk Transportation Department has a great addition to the team! Mike Nicodemus has joined as the Transportation Manager.
In this position, Mike will be assisting the Director of Transportation, Dan Schultz, with the management and supervision of all transportation staff; working closely, and providing support to the bus drivers and administrative teams.
The Transportation Department’s goal is to establish and maintain a safe climate on all of our buses. Mike helps accomplish this in several different ways:
Providing training opportunities to the transportation staff is important to Mike. Our bus drivers are the first people students see in the morning and can help each student start the day off right. By providing training on ways to work with children and how to de-escalate issues when they arise, everyone wins!
Mike brings 25 years in the school system (12 years here at SEP) working with students to this position. His goal is to keep everyone safe while they are on the bus. Everyone deserves to have a safe way to school just like our buildings are safe places to learn.
“I appreciate the opportunity to continue my career here at Southeast Polk CSD! My first several weeks in the transportation department have been rewarding to work with a staff that is dedicated to keeping all of our students safe as they are transported to and from every school in our district. Our bus drivers and transportation staff are an important part of this district, and I appreciate all that they do for our students!”
