It was a perfect day for one of our long-time traditions, SCIP Day, which stands for Senior Community Improvement Project. Hundreds of Southeast Polk Seniors spread out across the district to perform community work that needs to be done. Local organizations let us know how we can help, inside or out, cleaning, painting, yard work, or any other odd job. Maybe it’s just spreading joy, and spending time with others. After a morning of hard work, the students are bussed to Thomas Mitchell Park to enjoy lunch provided by the Altoona Lions Club and Hy Vee and play games.
This year’s SCIP Day shirts were designed by a collaboration of the Rise Class, Adobe Apps Class and Art Seminar student Jensen Jones. Nice job all!
Thanks to all of the organizations that help make this annual day of community service possible!
District Vision/Mission: Success for college, career and civic life.
