After 19 years of dedicated service to the Southeast Polk School District, Steve Stotts, Principal at Altoona Elementary, is setting his sights on a well-deserved retirement.
Steve began his career at SEP in 2002 as Principal at Centennial Elementary, coming to us with years of experience as a teacher, coach and principal. In 2011-2012, he served as the district’s Human Resources Director. Then he moved back to the school building and to be with the students that he loves by taking the Altoona Elementary Principal position where he has been leading until now.
The entire community has benefitted from Steve’s leadership and passion for both learning and teaching. He’s given generously of his time and experience. Steve’s known for stopping in the classrooms on a daily basis just to say hi and share his positive energy. He’s also challenged his staff to be positive and do their best every day and it shows. While leading at Altoona, the elementary won the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School award. You can read more about it here: Altoona Elementary wins prestigious national blue ribbon school award
