From basketball to volleyball and even baking – Willowbrook Elementary recently launched a new after-school intramural program for Willowbrook students!
Willowbrook Principal, Nathan Ballagh, shared, “At Willowbrook, we want to make sure our students have the opportunity to try new interest-based activities and participate in extracurricular sports to keep them active. They work so hard in the classroom all day and we want to offer the ability for them to stay connected to our school outside of school hours.”
The program is free for students and is run by Willowbrook staff members. Transportation is provided for those who need it, knowing that transportation is a barrier for some of the families they serve.
“We serve a lot of students and some students who don’t always have the option to participate in organized sports so we wanted to offer this to our students right here at our building. Currently, this program is primarily for 4th and 5th-grade students and we have had great participation. We hope to expand it to lower grade levels soon,” shared Ballagh.
