Highlights from the April 16, 2020, Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

Approvals

• The Board approved the upcoming scheduled meeting dates:
  • May 7, 2020
  • May 21, 2020
• The Board approved the Resolution – Pandemic Response and Emergency Suspension of Policy. The resolution includes a provision to continue to pay employees through the closure period of April 30.
• The Board approved the proposed date for the public hearing for the amendment of the fiscal year 2020 budget for May 21, 2020.
• The Board approved phase II of the 2020-2021 staffing plan.

Presentations/Discussions:

• Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Superintendent, provided his monthly update to the board.
• Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, provided an update on current year fiscal activities through March.
• Dr. Jo Ellen Latham, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, provided an update on the Southeast Polk Continuous Learning Plan and the idea of a ‘one-stop-shop’ for learning resources.
