Band: The SEP Band Program is hosting the 7th annual mattress fundraiser here at the High School on Sunday, February 2nd from 11:00 – 5:00 PM. RhythAMettes: Tryouts for next year’s team will be held on April 15th – 16th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the auxiliary gym.  All dancers entering grades 9 – 12 next year are eligible. Please contact head coach Marianne Peterson with any questions at marianne.peterson@southeastpolk.org

Girls Golf: Students in grades 9-12 interested in golf this spring, join us for an informational meeting Thursday, January 30th at 3:15 PM in Room 224 at the SEP Jr High. For questions please reach out Julene Pappan.

Iowa Insurance Division: 

Are you a high school junior or senior interested in a paid summer internship? The Iowa Insurance Division offers a 10-week paid internship opportunity beginning June 2, 2025, for high school juniors and seniors who wish to gain real world experience in the insurance industry as an insurance regulator. Interested juniors and seniors should visit the Iowa Insurance Division website to learn more. Juniors and seniors interested in exploring the insurance industry through this 10-week, paid summer internship opportunity should send a cover letter and resume to internships@iid.iowa.gov. Applications for the summer internship opportunity are due February 28, 2025.

Students interested in participating in the FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Program, please stop in the counseling office to pick up a flyer. American Legion Boys State Program:

EVENT: Crime Scene Investigation & Forensic Specialty Roles

Sr. Investigator Cody Brigman from the Des Moines Police Department will lead an engaging session on the exciting field of Crime Scene Investigation (CSI). Building Entry Reminders:

Students: A friendly reminder when arriving to school after the doors are locked. Please use the correct entry doors to scan into the building. If you are late or coming back from an appointment use the LATE scanner so your attendance is accurately recorded. The Study Hall Release scanner is ONLY used for students coming in from release and Harbor students.

Visitors: When visiting the High School during school hours, please park on the east side of the building in visitor parking. For security purposes, enter the building through the east main entry doors so we can get you a visitors badge. Note: You will need your drivers license to get a visitors badge.

Student Drivers Permits:

After the student has completed Driver Education, visit the High School front office to receive the appropriate paperwork to take to the DOT office.  The student must also have their a current permit available.


Driver Education:

Driver education classes held at SE Polk High School in November and December. Students, guardians or parents may register online at www.StreetSmartsDriversEd.com or they may call our office to register over the phone at 515-279-1112.
