Early Graduates:

Students planning to graduate in January should attend the early graduate meeting on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in the auditorium during RAM Time.

Career Exploration – Entrepreneurship:

Travis Troy, Co-Owner of Honest Wrenches, will be visiting the high school to share his insights on entrepreneurship. Travis is also highly knowledgeable about the various career opportunities within the auto mechanic industry. He began his career working out of his garage and has since expanded to multiple locations in the Des Moines metro area. His journey serves as an inspiration for anyone interested in becoming a business owner and unsure where to start.

He will be here Thursday, December 12th from 9:00 – 9:45 AM in the multipurpose room. Students can Sign up here to attend.

College Visits & Important Dates:

12/10 – US Navy will be here over the lunch hour
12/12 – Career Exploration in Entrepreneurship. 9:00 – 9:45 in the multipurpose room.

High School Activities

There are lots of winter activities happening this week in RAM Country. Wrestling, Basketball, Swimming, Bowling and Band Events. Come out and cheer on our RAMS.

Sports News:

  • Congratulations to Alyssa Tucker and Sam Zelenovich on their signing to compete at the collegiate level. Alyssa has committed to play soccer at Iowa Central and Sam has committed to play football at Iowa State! Congratulations athletes!
  • Congratulations to our RAMS Swimmers & Divers for their All-State and All Conference Honors!

  • Congratulations to the RhythAMetteS for their State Championship! They competed at the 2025 ISDTA State Dance Championship and took 1st in Kick, 2nd in Jazz and 2nd in Hip Hop.
  • Congratulations to our Varsity Wrestling team for bringing home 1st place at Gardner this past weekend! Nico Desalvo, Carter Pearson and Cooper Martinson with 1st place finishes!
  • Congratulations to the JV & Varsity Girls Basketball team with their win against Valley this past weekend! Nice job ladies!

Purchase online tickets for any SEP activities event. They do not take cash at the gate.

Student Activity Passes >>

Student activity passes can be purchased through your Infinite Campus Portal fees and picked up in our Activities office after purchase.


Caring Hands

The Interact Club is hosting a Food Drive to donate to Caring Hands Food Pantry. The event is going on NOW thru Dec. 20th. Donations can be dropped off in the High School front office.

The FCF (Fellowship of Christ Followers) will be having a Christmas Party on December 16th at 7:00 PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross. There will be cookie decorating, games with prizes, gift cards, hot chocolate bar, and a guest speaker! Come join us!

2023-2024 Yearbook:

The 2023-2024 yearbooks ARE HERE!  Students that have not picked up their ordered year book, they are available in the front office.

Building Entry Reminders:

Students: A friendly reminder when arriving to school after the doors are locked. Please use the correct entry doors to scan into the building. If you are late or coming back from an appointment use the LATE scanner so your attendance is accurately recorded. The Study Hall Release scanner is ONLY used for students coming in from release and Harbor students.

Visitors: When visiting the High School during school hours, please park on the east side of the building in visitor parking. For security purposes, enter the building through the east main entry doors so we can get you a visitors badge. Note: You will need your drivers license to get a visitors badge.

Student Drivers Permits

After the student has completed Driver Education, visit the High School front office to receive the appropriate paperwork to take to the DOT office.  The student must also have their a current permit available.


Driver Education

Driver education classes held at SE Polk High School in November and December. Students, guardians or parents may register online at www.StreetSmartsDriversEd.com or they may call our office to register over the phone at 515-279-1112.


Parent Teacher Conferences

Spring Conferences:

Monday, March 10th, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 pm.
Normal ODD day bell schedule for students.

Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 12:30-7:30 pm (Note: No Late Start, 1st period starts at 7:35 am).
EVEN Bell Schedule for students – NO LATE START

MTSS: 7:35 – 8:05am
2nd period: 8:15 – 8:55 am
4th period: 9:00 – 9:40 am
6th period: 9:45 – 10:25 am
8th period: 10:30 – 11:10 am (approximate arrival time for buses).

All parents/guardians will need to create a new account through schoolbookings.net to schedule conferences with teachers. Once the new account is created, parents/guardians can access this link to schedule their conferences. The event code for fall parent-teacher conferences is coming soon!
