The FCF (Fellowship of Christ Followers) will be having a Christmas Party on December 16th at 7:00 PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross. There will be cookie decorating, games with prizes, gift cards, hot chocolate bar, and a guest speaker! Come join us!

The Interact Club is hosting a Food Drive to donate to Caring Hands Food Pantry. The event is going on NOW thru Dec. 20th. Donations can be dropped off in the High School front office.

SEP Post Prom: The Post Prom committee is hosting a can drive this Saturday, December 21st from 12:00 – 4:00 PM in the Football stadium parking lot.

Activity News:

  • Vocal Music: High School Choir Concert tonight, Dec 16th starting at 7:00 in the SEP High School Auditorium. If you can’t join us in person, join us virtually with this link.
  • Show Choir: Family Performance Thursday, December 19th starting at 7:00 PM in the SEP High School Auditorium.
  • Boys Track: There will be a boys track & field team meeting on December 18th at 9:00am in the high school auditorium. Anyone who is planning to participate in boys track & field this spring should attend. See Coach Nolting if you have any questions.
  • Varsity Basketball: On Thursday, January 2, our varsity girls and boys basketball teams will play Indianola at Wells Fargo Arena. The girls play at 4:15 PM and the boys play at 5:30 PM. Tickets are just $10 and may only be purchased here. Student activity passes are accepted at this event.

Guidance Office

FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Program: Students interested in participating in the FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Program, please stop in the counseling office to pick up a flyer. American Legion Boys State Program: Are you a junior interested in learning about government? The American Legion Boys State program might be the perfect opportunity for you! This hands-on program is designed to teach students about all levels of government, including city, state, and federal operations.

Career Exploration: Veterinary Technician and Assistant

On Friday, December 20th from 10:30 – 11:15 AM in the multi-purpose room students have an opportunity to join us for the Career Exploration Presentation on the Vet Tech and Vet Assisting programs.

Amy Fertig, Program Chair and Professor, will be presenting on DMACC’s Vet Tech program and the new Vet Assisting program. If you’re interested in animal science and career opportunities in this field, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Amy brings extensive knowledge and insight into animal science and related career paths. Building Entry Reminders:

Students: A friendly reminder when arriving to school after the doors are locked. Please use the correct entry doors to scan into the building. If you are late or coming back from an appointment use the LATE scanner so your attendance is accurately recorded. The Study Hall Release scanner is ONLY used for students coming in from release and Harbor students.

Visitors: When visiting the High School during school hours, please park on the east side of the building in visitor parking. For security purposes, enter the building through the east main entry doors so we can get you a visitors badge. Note: You will need your drivers license to get a visitors badge.

Student Drivers Permits

After the student has completed Driver Education, visit the High School front office to receive the appropriate paperwork to take to the DOT office.  The student must also have their a current permit available.


Driver Education

Driver education classes held at SE Polk High School in November and December. Students, guardians or parents may register online at www.StreetSmartsDriversEd.com or they may call our office to register over the phone at 515-279-1112.


Parent Teacher Conferences

Spring Conferences:

Monday, March 10th, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 pm.
Normal ODD day bell schedule for students.

Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 12:30-7:30 pm (Note: No Late Start, 1st period starts at 7:35 am).
EVEN Bell Schedule for students – NO LATE START

MTSS: 7:35 – 8:05am
2nd period: 8:15 – 8:55 am
4th period: 9:00 – 9:40 am
6th period: 9:45 – 10:25 am
8th period: 10:30 – 11:10 am (approximate arrival time for buses).

All parents/guardians will need to create a new account through schoolbookings.net to schedule conferences with teachers. Once the new account is created, parents/guardians can access this link to schedule their conferences. The event code for fall parent-teacher conferences is coming soon!
