Winter Week  Activities: January 22nd – 25th

Hello RAMS! Student Council has planned fun Winter Week Activities January 22nd through 25th! We hope to see you get involved throughout the week!

  • Wednesday, January 22nd – “Frozen” Movie Night:  In the auxiliary gym starting at 7:00 PM. Bring your pillow, blanket and friends! The concession stand will be open.

  • Thursday, January 23rd – Dodgeball Tournament: In the main gym from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. This is a tournament style event with teams (10th-12th) of 8 players and up to 2 captains. Spectators are welcome! Team sign-ups will close January 14th at 5:00 PM. NO late entries accepted.

  • Friday, January 24th – School Assembly in the gym during 4th period (10:25-10:50)

  • Friday, January 24th – IronRAM Volleyball: In the main gym from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. This is a boys only (10th-12th) competition with teams of 6 players and one coach (optional). Spectators are welcome! Team sign-ups will close January 15th at 5:00 PM. NO late entries accepted.

  • Saturday, January 25th – Winter Formal Dance: The Winter Formal Dance will be Saturday, January 25th from 8:00 – 10:00 PM in the High School Commons. This year’s theme is “Meet Me at Midnight“.  The link to purchase tickets will be available and sent out January 17th. Hope to see everyone there!

SEP Junior/Senior Prom:

Prom is Saturday, April 5, 2025, in the High School Commons from 8:00 – 10:00 PM. More information on Prom and Post-Prom events are to come.

Career Exploration:

Event: Crime Scene Investigation & Forensic Specialty Roles
Date: Thursday, January 30th
Time: 10:30 – 11:15 AM
Location: SEP High School – Multi-Purpose Room
(For Juniors and Seniors only)

Sr. Investigator Cody Brigman from the Des Moines Police Department will lead an engaging session on the exciting field of Crime Scene Investigation (CSI). During this presentation, Cody will cover: His personal journey to becoming a CSI, the qualifications and skills needed to pursue a career in CSI with the Des Moines Police Department and salary expectations and what a typical day looks like for a CSI.

If you have an interest in forensics, Cody will also introduce you to other exciting specialty roles, including: Fingerprint Analyst, ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Investigator, Computer Examiner, Digital Forensics Specialist and more!

Leadership Program:

Students interested in participating in the FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Program, please stop in the counseling office to pick up a flyer. American Legion Boys State Program:

Are you a junior interested in learning about government? The American Legion Boys State program might be the perfect opportunity for you! This hands-on program is designed to teach students about all levels of government, including city, state, and federal operations.

Where: Camp Dodge, Johnston, Iowa
When: June 22nd – 27th, 2025
Cost: Fully covered by a local American Legion post

Building Entry Reminders:

Students: A friendly reminder when arriving to school after the doors are locked. Please use the correct entry doors to scan into the building. If you are late or coming back from an appointment use the LATE scanner so your attendance is accurately recorded. The Study Hall Release scanner is ONLY used for students coming in from release and Harbor students.

Visitors: When visiting the High School during school hours, please park on the east side of the building in visitor parking. For security purposes, enter the building through the east main entry doors so we can get you a visitors badge. Note: You will need your drivers license to get a visitors badge.

Student Drivers Permits

After the student has completed Driver Education, visit the High School front office to receive the appropriate paperwork to take to the DOT office.  The student must also have their a current permit available.


Driver Education

Driver education classes held at SE Polk High School in November and December. Students, guardians or parents may register online at www.StreetSmartsDriversEd.com or they may call our office to register over the phone at 515-279-1112.

Spring Conferences:

Monday, March 10th, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 pm.
Normal ODD day bell schedule for students.

Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 12:30-7:30 pm (Note: No Late Start, 1st period starts at 7:35 am).
EVEN Bell Schedule for students – NO LATE START

MTSS: 7:35 – 8:05am
2nd period: 8:15 – 8:55 am
4th period: 9:00 – 9:40 am
6th period: 9:45 – 10:25 am
8th period: 10:30 – 11:10 am (approximate arrival time for buses).

All parents/guardians will need to create a new account through schoolbookings.net to schedule conferences with teachers. Once the new account is created, parents/guardians can access this link to schedule their conferences. The event code for fall parent-teacher conferences is coming soon!
